Oh, what a night...

Last night's Oscar party at the Belcourt was definitely fun. A delightfully charming and entertaining master of ceremonies, lots of great food from the neighborhood eateries, some really neat silent auction items (to my husband's delight, I was out bid on everything I signed up for), and lots of people-watching opportunities. Of course, having a table up front with a great view of the big screen and unlimited access to the food kept me pretty much occupied the entire evening.

Add the fact that my feet decided 2 hours into the evening they no longer were happy with my new shoes, and walking became an "as needed" endeavor.

The only Best Picture movie that I saw won, and I'm ok with that. I obviously can't say if it was more deserving than the other nominees, but it was one of the better movies I've seen in a while.

Lots of cheers for "Nashville's award" and lots of disappointment when the other Nashville connections weren't as fortunate. And although we paid $5 to enter the "guess the award winners" pool, I have a feeling we ended up covering someone's bar tips for the evening, as there was no one around at the end of the night to hand over the cash.

Speaking of the end of the night, I was more than a little tired and ready to head home. I've also checked things out this morning, and any sign of a double chin has vanished, so let's chalk that one up to that whole fluid retention thing I've had going on since December, ok? :)

For those of you who were worried, I cut myself off after my third glass of pineapple juice, and switched to water. Next year, however, I plan to take advantage of the free-flowing champagne, wine tasting and open bar.
