So Joe and I were out Saturday afternoon, having a late lunch, before getting ready for his 20th year high school reunion.
My mother was coming over to watch JJ, then leaving Sunday to go to Pennsylvania to visit her mother and other relatives and friends.
Joe asks why JJ and I aren't going with her. You know, since I'm not back at work yet, and she's driving and it would be a great (and maybe the only) chance for his great grandmothers and great (and great great) aunts and uncles to meet him.
So we call mom and we all decide why not...
I don't travel well in a car. Never have. Let's hope my son does better, because it's about 12 hours each way...
See you next week!

Friday diversion

As if "Friday" has any special meaning to me right now...
But, for those of you at work:
An incredibly clever flash animation.
Enjoy!

The eyes have it...
So I just got off the phone with the vet, scheduling surgery for Lillie's cherry eye...
What's that? Lillie's cherry eye? The one that appeared way back here when my mom was puppy-sitting her?
The one she had surgery on last week?
No, not that one.
That was her RIGHT eye.
This one's her left.
Maybe we can get a volume discount from the vet...

Oh mom, shut up already!
JJ's new favorite lullaby:
He either loves hearing my voice as it lulls him to sleep, or falls asleep to escape the torture.
Side note: I read this story in yesterday's paper, and spent the rest of the morning holding my beautiful baby boy, hoping nothing ever happens that I can't protect him from. I can't imagine.
Take a nap
Take a nap
JJ needs to take a nap
'Cause if he takes a nap he'll wake up
And he'll be a happy baby

Wrapping up the week...
- That shed with ricin and bombs? It's a little too close for comfort.
- Lillie had surgery Tuesday to fix her eye. She's now just as adorable (if not more) than she was before. And now people don't awkwardly "ignore" her eye before finally asking "What happened?".
- My husband met David Lee Roth and guess who he took with him?!?! No, it wasn't me.
- I took JJ to get his "official" one month photographs. Well, technically, one month and one day. I'm no photographer, but neither was the girl at the photo place.
- Mom brought her black lab, Daisy, to our house the other evening. In the hour we were gone to dinner, Lillie bugged the crap out of Daisy. How do I know? Daisy jumped the fence to get away.
- We're going to the beach on June 16th. ...of next year.

Baby 1.0 (months) - now cordless
JJ has had umbilical cord issues from the beginning. He wrapped the damned thing around his neck TWICE, necessitating an emergency c-section and moving his birthday up a little earlier than expected.
Then, he was having some separation issues, as he wasn't about to let what was left of it go. At the hospital, they tell you 2 - 4 weeks for the cord stub to fall off, and he didn't let go until this morning - one month into his life.
But he now has the cutest belly button...
